Income levels listed for school meals

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Services updates income eligibility guidelines for students to qualify for free or reduced-price school meals based on federal poverty levels.

For the 2013-’14 school year, children in a household of four with income of $30,615 per year or less will qualify for free meals. If that family’s income is between $30,615 and $43,568, children can receive reduced-price school meals.

The annual income scale for determining eligibility for free and reduced-price meals or milk for the 2013-’14 school year is as follows:
