She was born to Harry and Emily Christensen in Berkeley, Calif., and grew up in Wisconsin.
She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point and attended the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point, where she met her future husband and lifetime partner, Chuck. They were married in 1951, and moved to Eagle River in 1954.Her beloved husband of 57 years preceded her in death in 2008.
Phyllis is survived by a much-loved daughter, Susan (Tom Running) Spangenberg of Madison, Wis., extended family and friends.
She was an organ donor. May God bless those on the receiving end of her generosity.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9, 2013, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Wausau, Wis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
