|Medical responders take refresher course|
Hiles Fire Station North Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) took their Emergency Medical Responder Transition Refresher last week with Nicolet College Instructor Art LaVoy.
Every two years, the Hiles North EMR are required to update their skills through 27 hours of training and testing.
Fourteen years ago about 12 retired citizens came together to learn first aid skills because their homes were more than 30 minutes from any ambulance service.
The group, which consists of responders age 64 to 85, developed to assist emergency response by arriving ahead of the ambulance.The group responds to northern Forest County and southeastern Vilas County,
