Janice A. Miller, a resident of Three Lakes and formerly of New London, died Saturday Sept. 21, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She was 83.
Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 2, 1930, in the township of Deer Creek in Outagamie County to Leonard and Leona (Paul) Knapp.
She grew up in the Bear Creek and Clintonville area, and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1948.She married Roger W. Miller April 7, 1951, at St. Martins Lutheran Church in Clintonville.
During her years of employment she worked as a medical assistant for 27 years to Dr. Clarence Topp of Clintonville, as well as farming alongside her husband.
She and her husband moved to the Three Lakes area in 1976, where they owned and operated Miller’s Shady Lane Resort until 1988.
Afterward, she continued to reside in the Three Lakes area in their home on Julia Creek.
She worked with the Lutheran Digest and Lutheran churches for the next 10 years.
Mrs. Miller served on the Three Lakes Chamber of Commerce board for 10 years, was secretary for the Northern Lites snowmobile club for five years, and served on the Oneida County Commission of Aging board for five years.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes and served on the Altar Guild.
Her interests included her family and friends, fishing, hunting and watching television sports with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Myrene (George) Stevens and Eloise (Raymond) Dusel; brothers-in-law; and nephews.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Deborah (Darryl) Navis of Markesan and Diana of Three Lakes; one sister, Lorna (Ron) Piette of Neenah; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service at Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes is pending at this time.
Jacobs Funeral Homes in Florence is assisting the family.
