John ‘Jack’ Armstrong PDF Print E-mail

John “Jack” Armstrong of Eagle River died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff. He was 90.

Mr. Armstrong was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Eagle River, the son of Charles and Pearl (née Dyer) Armstrong.

He was raised and attended schools in Eagle River, and graduated from Eagle River High School in 1940.

He then entered the U.S. Air Force serving as a parachute rigger and mechanic during World War II, and served from 1940-’44 in the China-Burma-India Theatre.

Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8637 and American Legion Post 114.

He was a former member and president of the Iron Workers Union in Milwaukee, member and past president of the Eagle River Democratic Party and member of the Eagle River Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean.

Survivors include his longtime friend and companion of 18 years, Kathleen “Kay” Patricelli of Eagle River; two daughters, Holly (Terry) Guerin of Eagle River, and Carole (Tom) Olson of Vashon, Wash.; two sons, Scott (Melba) Elliott and Kent Elliott, both of Eagle River; one sister, Ellen Hendrickson of Eagle River; and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
