County panels to drop

After failing twice to consolidate Vilas County Board committees earlier this year, supervisors voted 15-3 last week to reduce the number of panels from 22 to nine starting next April.
The final version of the resolution was approved after several amendments were debated, with two being defeated and one accepted.
Meanwhile, county board Chairman Steve Favorite withdrew a resolution that would have created a salary for county board supervisors in place of per diem payments, suggesting it would be taken up again this year prior to December when nomination papers for
