After a close first half, Northland Pines erupted for 42 points in the second half to beat Houghton, Mich., 55-16 in a WestPAC football game last Friday night in Houghton.

“We knew, as a team, that we had a battle on our hands up in Houghton,” said Pines coach Eric Swanson. “Houghton is an improved team that is junior-heavy, with a lot of talented skill players. We went into the game with the idea of staying true to what we do offensively and defensively, wanting to get a feel for what Houghton’s game plan was and to make necessary changes throughout the first half.”
