The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has reported that an escaped inmate from Camp McNaughton State Prison has been apprehended without incident in Orlando, Fla. following an investigation into his whereabouts.

The camp reported last Tuesday that convicted murderer Todd A. Brecht, 54, walked away from a job site in St. Germain.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office, the Bayfield Police Department, the Redcliff Tribal Police Department, and the Orlando, Fla., Police Department.

“I would like to thank all agencies for their cooperative investigative assistance, which led to the apprehension of the suspect,” said Oneida Sheriff Grady Hartman.
