Manitowish Waters town board seeks lower speed limit, uniform right-of-way

A request by the town of Manitowish Waters to lower the speed limit on Highway W in the downtown area and establish a uniform 66-foot right-of-way was reviewed by the Vilas County Highway Committee last week.

Manitowish Town Board Chairman John Hanson, along with town supervisors Henry Bauers and Eric Behnke, signed the letter to the Highway Committee.

The right-of-way width of 66 feet is requested to be from Highway 51 to the junction of Highway W and Tower Road. According to town information, town officials are under the impression the right-of-way varies from 66 feet to 200 feet as it goes through the downtown area.
