LaBine of Ojibwe tribe holds rice program for 2nd-graders

Pam Klessig’s second-grade class at Phelps School recently got the chance to see a presentation on harvesting wild rice.

Roger LaBine of the Ojibwe tribe was invited to talk about the practice and its importance to Native Americans.

“It is a spirit food, a gift from the creator,” said LaBine.
