Five of six wolf zones closed

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has closed five of the six wolf harvest zones to hunting and trapping of gray wolves effective Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m.

As of Monday, Nov. 18, hunters and trappers have harvested 210 wolves in the states. The statewide quota is 251 wolves.

The only zone that remains open is Zone 3 with a quota of 71 wolves; just 28 have been harvested. Zone 3 is a narrow band of counties in northwest Wisconsin stretching from Taylor County to Burnett County.
