|SonicNet lease could double for Vilas tower|

After the initial five-year lease to SonicNet for use of the Weber tower east of Eagle River that provides Internet access expires, the proposed new lease will at least double the rent paid the county, it was decided at the Vilas County Communications Committee meeting last week.
SonicNet, a private Internet provider, has paid Vilas County $1 a month per customer to have its equipment on the tower and in a shelter building.
SonicNet representative Adam Holroyd proposed doubling the least amount to $2 per customer for another five years, noting there are currently 100 Sonic Net customers getting Internet service off the Weber tower.Committee members asked what a typical commercial rate should be
