|Three Lakes students, staff get behind library project|
Letter to the Editor:
When we collaborate, great things happen. In this season of thanks and giving, I want to thank the Three Lakes School District for its enthusiastic support of the next chapter in the Edward U. Demmer Memorial Library.
The library has the lofty goal of raising $2.6 million for an addition and renovation to the current building.
The staff and students at Three Lakes school have wholeheartedly supported this project. The students have particularly embraced the effort because the plan includes an expanded space dedicated to youth. The students’ efforts began with a booth at Pumpkin Fest, introducing the project to the public and requesting financial support. Their most recent effort was a highly successful spaghetti dinner and raffle during parent/teacher conferences.
The cooperation and professionalism of the students and staff is energizing to the entire project.
Other efforts students are planning include writing to favorite authors for autographed copies of books to be auctioned, a silver war and more.
It is refreshing to see this cooperation between school and community, young and mature, part-time and full-time residents. Thanks to the Three Lakes community, particularly the youths and their mentors, for helping to make the next chapter in the Demmer Library a reality.
