John “Johnny” Pitlik of Sugar Camp died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013. He was 69.

Mr. Pitlik was born Dec. 12, 1943, in Rhinelander, the son of Howard and Emeline (Eddy) Pitlik.

He was raised in Sugar Camp and graduated from Three Lakes High School in 1962.

He spent most of his early years traveling throughout the United States while playing in various bands.

After moving back to the Sugar Camp area, he was married Feb. 14, 1978, to Vicki Bonack in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

He was employed with Pitlik and Wick until his retirement in 1997.

He also played in a variety of bands along with his son, Justin, and son-in-law, Steve.

Mr. Pitlik was a longtime member and former zone chairman of Ducks Unlimited.

His interests included spending time with his grandchildren,  golfing, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ellen; two daughters, Jodi and Jeanie; and one son-in-law, Steve Spears.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Todd (Agnes) of Long Beach, Calif., Chris (Hiede) Lindner of Sugar Camp, Jonathon (Katie) of Sugar Camp, and Justin “Duddy” of Sugar Camp; three daughters, Marci Spears of Sugar Camp, Mary  of Greenville, and Amy Griffin of Rhinelander; one brother, Tony (Helen) of Rhinel­ander; and 12 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Kunegunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp.  Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Burial will follow in St. Kunegunda Catholic Cemetery in Sugar Camp.
