Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 249 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least 32 vehicle accidents, three requests for an ambulance, four attempts to locate, three trespassing complaints, seven requests for agency assistance, eight burglar alarms, nine requests for citizen assistance, four domestic violence complaints, three cases of fraud, two harassment complaints, one hit-and-run, two reports of lost property, eight re­ports of hazardous conditions, two juvenile problems/runaways, three disturbances, five reports of suspicious circumstances, six traffic violations, one vacation check, 11 welfare checks, 11 911 hang-ups, six drug problems and two snowmobile violations.

At least 13 calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 12 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least two people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including one for operating while intoxicated.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 67 to 73. As of Dec. 16, there were 71 inmates.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 11

- 11:32 a.m. - A?two-vehicle accident was reported on Highway 45 near Rummels Road in Conover involving James M. Hedberg of Conover and Patricia A. Wendt of Watersmeet, Mich.

 

Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 28 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded two 911 hang-ups, six vehicle accidents, five accidents with property damage, five burglar alarms, one battery, four requests for citizen assistance, one disturbance, two drug problems, one gas drive-off, one parking problem, two probation violations, one vacation check and two traffic violations.

 

Three Lakes Police

This police department re­ported five vehicle accidents, one alarm, two animal bites, one animal at large, one request for motorist assistance, one request for agency assistance, six business checks, one welfare check, two informational reports, one parking ticket, one reckless driving complaint, four scams, one snowmobile violation, two suspicious circumstances, seven traffic violations and one vehicle in a ditch.
