Cold tough on anglers, but it’s making good ice
By George Langley

What a miserable piece of weather the North Woods has been experiencing in the last several weeks. It has felt just like the usual weather at the end of January each year.

Those cold temperatures, however, have built some ice on the lakes. Most lakes now have around 6 to 10 inches of good ice on the lakes.

The general outdoor conditions for all our winter sports are very good. The snowmobile trails and the cross-country ski trails are open pretty much areawide now and the snowshoeing is excellent. There is some crust, but not too bad.
