Court ruling denies tribal night hunting

A federal judge has sided with the state and rejected a proposal by Chippewa tribes to use lights to hunt deer at night on ceded territory lands in northern Wisconsin.

The tribes’ move to use lights to hunt deer arose after the Legislature authorized the state’s first sanctioned wolf hunt in 2012. The tribes oppose wolf hunting.
