Conditions very good for holiday fishing

By George Langley

The North Woods has superb winter conditions out there now, with mostly driveable ice thickness and absolutely great snow conditions.

This sets us up for a great Christmas and New Year’s holiday season for the first time in a number of years. If you want to be outdoors, you’ll be able to do whatever you want.

There is a little slush on the ice now on some, but not all, lakes. It is nothing like last year, though. The ice is getting thick enough to almost require a power drill rather than hand augers.

Walleye fishing has been very good on most lakes, with the fish for the most part in a little deeper water.
