|The life of one solitary man|
By Byron McNutt
IT’S THE REASON for the season: it’s a short story titled One Solitary Life, the life of Jesus Christ. No other man, army or movement has affected the earth as much as this one person.
This essay was sent to me last week by my uncle the Rev. Carroll Lee McNutt who lives in Indiana. It was a sermon written by Dr. James Francis for his Philadelphia congregation in 1926. It chronicles the short life of Jesus. Think about it.
He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in still another village where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was 30. Then for three years he was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office.
