Vilas County Sheriff

Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week reported at least 28 vehicle accidents, three requests for agency assistance, three burglar alarms, four requests for citizen assistance, one report of criminal damage to property, three disturbances, three reports of hazardous conditions, one hit-and-run, one report of lost property, two suspicious circumstances, one theft, five traffic violations, one welfare check, 13 911 hang-ups and one drug problem.

At least 11 calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 17 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least one person was booked at the Vilas County Jail for operating while intoxicated.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 67 to 73. As of Dec. 16, there were 71 inmates.


Friday, Dec. 20

- 2:00 a.m. - A?two-vehicle accident was reported at 2010 Highway 45 in the town of Lincoln involving Nicholas C. Wright of Eagle River and Nicholas G. Janusiak of Oak Creek.

Thursday, Dec. 19

- 10:01 a.m. - A?one-vehicle accident was reported on Highway 45 near Briarwood Drive in the town of Lincoln involving Richard S. Franzen of Ewen, Mich.
