The Eagle River Falcons traveled to Fox Cities and Madison for a pair of Great Lakes Hockey League road games this past weekend, dropping both games scores of 6-0 to the Ice Dogs and 5-4 to the Blues in a barn burner.
Fox Cities got on the board first Friday night, scoring just 25 seconds into the game for the first and only goal of the period. After 20 minutes of play, the Falcons trailed 1-0.
With 4:40 left of the second stanza, Matt Hughes of the Ice Dogs lit the lamp for his first of three goals of the game, giving his team a two-goal advantage. The period ended that way with the host team on top 2-0.
The final 20 minutes of play belonged to the Ice Dogs, who dominated on both sides of the puck, scoring four unanswered goals and shutting out the Falcons to take a convincing 6-0 win.
