Bluejays compete at Almond tourney

The Three Lakes High School boys basketball team opened the Almond Bancroft Christmas Tournament Friday night with a opening game loss to the hosting Eagles 60-29.

Almond-Bancroft is one of the better teams in the Central Wisconsin 10 conference, according to Three Lakes coach Jack Wales. They have one of the best scorers in the state in Evan Pagel, who puts in nearly 27 points per game.

“We knew that for us to be competitive, we had to limit them to one shot attempt per possession, and we had to slow the game down and limit their possessions,” said Wales. “We did a good job of that in the first half, but as the game wore on, they were able to use the depth of their bench and wore us down.”

The Jays looked slow in the second half, and Almond-Bancroft took advantage.
