Area schools among lowest for tax rates

High property values
help keep rates down

Three Lakes, Northland Pines and Phelps school districts are among the lowest taxing K-12 school districts in Wisconsin, according to a report from the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance (WISTAX).

The report showed that Three Lakes’ rate for the 2013-’14 school year is $5.72 per $1,000 of assessed value. Out of 367 K-12 districts in the state, WISTAX says Three Lakes has the seventh lowest taxing district in the state for school purposes.

Northland Pines is ranked as the 12th lowest in the state with a tax rate of $6.33.
