|Sherren, at age 90, continues to ride with the Boo-BBB’s snowmobile club|
The club, founded in 1969, is the ladies version of Apple Dumpling Gang snowmobile club out of St. Germain.
Sherren has been ride leader for the Boo-BBB’s, which are part of the annual Women on Snow weekend event held Jan. 24 to 26 at Eagle Waters Resort in Eagle River.
“I still love to ride but only on nice days,” said Sherren.
The Boo-BBB’s rode to the Sayner Pub Jan. 8, to celebrate Sherren’s 90th birthday.
Sherren was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., and settled in St. Germain in 1957.
Sherren explained her interest in snowmobiling, “The men all wanted to go snowmobiling and made me ride on the back. I really wanted to drive and have my own machine so they told me if I did, I’d have to be able to keep up with them and I did.”
The group rides 80 to 90 miles a week on Wednesdays. The assembly point is in front of St. Germain’s Groomer Barn in the St. Germain Community Center Park and departs when the St. Germain Community United Church of Christ bell strikes at 9 a.m.
