Falcons split pair of hockey games

The Eagle River Falcons recently traveled to Calumet for a pair of Great Lakes Hockey League games, winning 5-3 last Friday night and losing 8-2 Saturday night to post a 4-6 record thus far in league play.

In Friday night action, it was the visiting Falcons scoring first as Lucas Otto split the pipes just a minute into the game off an assist coming from Derek Tijan and Alex Hauswirth.

Calumet’s Alex VanWagner tied it up at the 4:33 mark to finalize the first period, scoring and knotting it up at one apiece.

The second period saw a scoreless battle for the first 13 minutes of play before the Wolverines took a 2-1
