DNR approves hunting rules from deer czar

Unit borders among
changes for hunters

The Natural Resources Board approved last week emergency rules to begin implementing Deer Trustee Report recommendations, including the creation of a system of 72 deer management units along county lines and eliminating on-site registration.

“This is a major milestone in the Deer Trustee Report implementation process and the future of deer management in Wisconsin,” said Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Secretary Cathy Stepp. “Throughout the process, the DNR has been the ears while partner groups, tribes and the public have been the voices.”

The proposals are part of an emergency rules package;
