City residents advised to run water from faucets PDF Print E-mail

Due to the extreme cold this winter and increasing depth of the frost, the Eagle River Light & Water Utility is advising water customers to leave their water running in their homes.

“We are asking our customers to start running  water from their faucets about the size of a pencil,” said utility manager Pat Weber. “Whether you have had a problem in the past or not, we are advising to run the water.”

Weber said there have been freeze-up problems in areas this winter where there has never been a problem in the past.

“The frost is over 6 feet in some areas and we have a lot of winter left,” said Weber. “In most places, our water lines are 5 to 8 feet down.”

Weber said if Eagle River residents have questions, they can call the utility office at (715) 479-8121.
