Fitness center use still open to public

The YMCA wellness and  recreation facilities at Northland Pines High School will shift from Y oversight to school district control after a recommendation from an ad hoc committee was approved by the school board Monday night.
The facility, located at the Northland Pines High School fitness center overlooking the field house, will be known as Pines Community Wellness Center.
The school board discussed three options for the facility, including continuing the current relationship, but recognized the Y was losing money and would have to reduce open hours.
