By Byron McNutt

A former colleague in the printing business illustrated the value of playing by the rules when she shared this story with our associates back in 1992. The essay is titled “The Importance of Rules.”
A family had purchased a cabin on a beautiful lake, and they were preparing to vacation there. Before leaving, the father proposed a list of rules that would govern the family’s activities while at the cabin. But the two teenagers in the family objected to the rules.
