The Northland Pines boys basketball team got its first victory of the season with a 65-48 win against Watersmeet, Mich., in a nonconference game at Eagle River last Tuesday.
Northland Pines led 22-13  after one quarter, but the Nimrods came storming back to take a 35-31 lead at the intermission.
But the Eagles had their best quarter in the third period, as they outscored Watersmeet 24-2 to take a 55-37 lead into the final eight minutes. The Nimrods outscored Pines 11-10 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles notched their first win of the 2013-’14 season.
