The Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championships on Dollar Lake in Eagle River attracted 336 teams last Friday through Sunday, with teams taking home “national champion” bragging rights in 19 divisions.
The tournament, now in its ninth year, brought in more than 2,000 hockey players to 30 rinks built on the ice of Dollar Lake just east of Eagle River. The skaters came from more than 30 states.
During the three-day weekend, teams with players ranging from age 21 to more than 70 years of age played nearly 600 games, according to Scott Aldrich, manager of adult hockey for USA Hockey.
