Three bids for spring tree planting on the Vilas County Forest were opened last Wednesday at the Forestry Committee meeting with the low bidder, Superior Forestry Services of Arkansas, approved for the contract.
According to forest Administrator Larry Stevens, there are 135 acres scheduled for planting. The number of each species for planting are 110,000 jack pine and 4,000 white pine on two sites.
Superior Forestry Service’s winning bid was $7,430.28. Other bids received were $7,981.20 from Northwoods Forestry of Alvin and $8,976 from Faith Forestry of Mississippi.
