Richard “Dick” Preuhs, age 71, of Land O’ Lakes, Wis., died on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
He was born on July 4, 1942, in Le Sueur, Minn., the son of Clarence and Edna (Eichler) Preuhs.
He was raised and attended schools in Le Sueur, and later attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis., receiving his BA in history.After graduating he worked for the college for many years as a Campus Center Director and with Student Auxiliary Services.
He was employed as a chef at Cedars Restaurant in Cedar Lake, Wis., and also taught at Lakeshore Technical Institute in Cleveland, Wis.
He and Debra were married in 1981, and moved to Land O’ Lakes in 1983. They owned and operated the Country Store in downtown Eagle River, Wis., for the last 31 years.
Dick was active in the community and supportive in everything he did. He enjoyed gardening and anything “John Deere” or “Harley-Davidson.”
Dick is survived by his wife, Debra; son, Robert (Jennifer) of Arvada, Colo.; brothers, Elroy (Michele) of Imperial, Mo., and David (Carol) of Le Center, Minn.; sister, Barb Almich of Minnesota; grandchildren, Alex and Mara; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 19, 2014, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River, with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
