Lucille ‘Lu’ Kunda PDF Print E-mail

Lucille “Lu” Kunda of Three Lakes died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, in Rhinelander. She was 91.

Mrs. Kunda was born March 18, 1922, in Milwaukee to Andrew and Helen (née Krutzka) Frauenfelder.

She worked as the pastry chef at Oneida Village, and volunteered at the Three Lakes Elementary School for 23 years, at St. Theresa’s Thrift shop for 40 years, and the Three Lakes Museum.

In 1981, she received the Love Award for her volunteer work at St. Theresa Catholic Church, and in 1990 she received the Friends of Education Award.

She taught catechism for 40 years and vacation Bible school. She was a Cub Scout Master and a 4-H leader.

Mrs.?Kunda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 431 and St. Theresa Kitchen Band.

Her interests included working with children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Eugene; one daughter, Kathleen Rychlock; and one son-in-law, Tom Hageny.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Robert) Rowe of Three Lakes, and Phyllis Hageny of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Feb. 15 at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.

A memorial will be established in Mrs. Kunda’s name.

My sympathy to the family in the loss of your mother. I remember what good friends our parents were.
