The soul of Konrad H. Doepke, 80, of Conover, Wis., passed into eternal life in Heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

Husband, father, Opa, uncle, friend, mentor — Konrad will be mourned by his wife of 56 years, Arlene, and their three sons, Brian (Melissa) of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Darrell (Lori) of Glendale, Ariz., and Joel of Pulaski, Wis.

Konrad was Opa to Danielle and Ashley Doepke.

He will be missed by sister-in-law Jan, niece Lisa and her family, nephew Loren and his family and the countless friends with whom he was blessed.

Konrad was a man of strong faith, with many God-given talents and gifts: teacher, coach, mentor, church organist and choir director, composer of hymns, leader of Bible studies, church elder and deacon, classical music radio host, piano technician and Fulbright foreign exchange teacher.

He will be remembered for his knowledge, wisdom, wit and unique German sense of humor.

Born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Nov. 16, 1933, Konrad attended Bethlehem Lutheran Elementary School and Lutheran High School there, Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Ill., and Columbia University, N.Y.

He served his Lord as a Lutheran school teacher for 40-plus years in Michigan, Wisconsin and New York.

A memorial service of remembrance will be held in the spring. Dear Konrad, sleep in the Heavenly peace that you have been longing for.

If you care to remember Konrad in a special way, memorials would be welcome to the following: Martin Luther High School, Greendale, Wis.; Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, Wis.; or Hope Lutheran Church, Land O’ Lakes, Wis.

“And when at last, Lord, we stand before you, Receive our songs of worship and praise. With all the hosts of Heavenly glory, With all the saints our voices we raise.”
