|Vilas already against motor trolling on lakes|
Letter to the Editor:
It is disheartening to see the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has decided the vote taken a year ago to ban motorized trolling needs to be revisited. The vote in Vilas County was overwhelmingly against. Why should it change now?
Not only is it an unfair fishing advantage, but the added traffic adds to pollution of the lakes and chops up the weeds, making it harder to clean the boats when moving from lake to lake.Vilas County lake associations have been working very hard to keep invasive weeds out of our lakes. As a resident who cannot be present at the hearings because of health and maybe snow, I feel my rights are being violated by holding these meetings when I am effectively banned from participation.
I hope the Vilas County News-Review will continue to highlight this unfair decision by the DNR. Publisher Kurt Krueger has covered the problem very well in the March 5 edition. I hope he continues to give it the light of day.
