SUPPLYING FANS with a glossary of terms related to their favorite sport has become a popular feature. You see it in hunting magazines, fishing articles, football periodicals, everywhere.
It is no different for baseball. Baseball broadcasters start each season using the same clichés and baseball terminology, never giving a thought to whether or not their audience understands just what they are describing.
In a March 28, 1984 (30 years ago) column in the Oshkosh Northwestern, staff sportswriter Tom Woodrow decided to put this injustice to rest.
