New mapping program in Vilas could help with floodplain issues

A new mapping program that uses lasers could help Vilas County property owners and officials with floodplain and zoning issues in the future, county board members learned last week.

Vilas County Mapping Department manager Deb Gibson and digital mapping analyst  Adam Grassl made a presentation of the new LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) program to the Vilas County Board last Tuesday.
