Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 227 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least seven vehicle accidents, five car versus deer accidents, six requests for an ambulance, three animal problems, two requests for agency assistance, six burglar alarms, seven requests for citizen assistance, two attempts to locate, three harassment complaints, one threat, three re­ports of hazardous conditions, three juvenile problems/runaways, five disturbances, four reports of suspicious circumstances, four thefts, five traffic violations, one vacation check, nine welfare checks, seven 911 hang-ups, one report of operating while intoxicated and four drug problems.

At least 13 calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 17 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least eight people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including one for bail jumping, two for probation violation, two for operating after revocation, one for failure to pay and two for battery.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 76 to 82. As of April 7, there were 82 inmates.


Wednesday, April 2

- 10:30 a.m. - A?two-vehicle accident was reported on Highway 70 near Oak Drive in the town of Lincoln involving Jordan L. Girard of Marquette and Sirron D. Nitka of Land O’ Lakes.


Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 28 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded one 911 hang-up, one car versus deer accident, one hit-and-run, one request for agency assistance, one burglar alarm, four requests for an ambulance, one animal problem, two requests for citizen assistance, one report of criminal damage to property, one disturbance, one drug problem, two reports of found property, one juvenile problem, one Lifeline alarm, one parking problem, one probation violation, one request for officer assistance, three thefts, one report of an unsecure premise, one utility problem and one welfare check.
