Tribes appeal judge’s decision on night hunt

A December decision by Federal Judge Barbara Crabb rejecting a night deer hunting plan by the state’s six Chippewa tribes will now go the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals for review.

Lawyers for the Bad River, Red Cliff, St. Croix, Mole Lake, Lac Courte Oreilles and Lac du Flambeau tribes filed a brief March 24 with the high court that argues the tribes should be allowed to shoot deer at night for at least four reasons:
