Hwy. 45 lights to remain off

Lincoln could pay
to remove equipment

Streetlights along Highway 45 north of Eagle River in the town of Lincoln will remain off and could be removed from the highway right-of-way, according to correspondence from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT).

The letter also indicates the DOT will no longer pay the operating expenses to keep the lights on.

Town of Lincoln officials decided in October 2013 to shut off the lights in order to save money. Two entities supply electrical power to the lights, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) and Eagle River Light & Water. Eagle River, at the request of Lincoln as its customer,
