Grateful for fundraiser, acts of kindness PDF Print E-mail

Dear Editor:

My husband, Jeff, and I would like to recognize Sunshine for Humanity for sponsoring the April 12 dinner-dance fundraiser held at The Rock to help with the substantial medical bills incurred as a result of Jeff’s sudden illness. The support of all those who made the event possible and all who attended is greatly appreciated!

The April 12 fundraiser was just one more way the Eagle River community has shown its support. We appreciate those who established the Jeff Hyslop Medical Fund at First National Bank, and all who have or will contribute. Every contribution has helped reduce the financial burden we currently face.

And not enough can be said for the first responders and volunteers who came to our aid in the early morning hours in the midst of a heavy snowstorm in February. While the emergency medical technicians prepared Jeff for transport, volunteer firefighters and police shoveled and plowed to get us safely to the hospital. Their efforts and quick response that morning, along with those working the emergency room, can literally be credited with saving Jeff’s life. We were told by doctors at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston that all the right decisions were made in those critical early hours of the crisis, which had a huge impact toward a positive outcome for Jeff.

We are grateful for those who just saw needs and met them if they were able — people shoveling our driveway and plowing the parking lot of our business, those who dropped off meals, those who volunteered to assist where needed. (Thanks, Dennise, for taking care of our dog and cat while I was with Jeff in Weston.)

And last, but by no means least, are all the churches and people who were praying for us. We took great encouragement knowing God’s people were “storming” the gates of heaven on our behalf. We experienced God’s presence throughout and his grace and peace sustained us.

It’s our prayer that God will multiply blessings to all of you. We definitely have and are seeing Eagle River at its best!
