Vilas County Sheriff

Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week reported at least seven vehicle accidents, seven car versus deer accidents, three  requests for agency assistance, four requests for an ambulance, four animal prob­lems, two attempts to locate, seven burglar alarms, one request for citizen assistance, one report of criminal damage to property, seven disturbances, one report of found property, one report of fraud, three harassment complaints, eight reports of hazardous conditions, one hit-and-run, four juvenile problems, five suspicious circumstances, six thefts, three threats, 11 traffic violations, two trespassing complaints, one vacation check, nine welfare checks, 10 911 hang-ups and seven drug problems.

At least nine calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 29 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least 14 people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including nine for probation violation, one for bail jumping, one for operating while intoxicated, one for failure to appear, one for disorderly conduct and one for battery.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 82 to 95. As of May 5, there were 95 inmates.

 

Sunday, May 3

- 12:44 p.m. - A?one-vehicle accident was reported on West Carpenter Lake Road near Grampa Grahm Trail in the town of Washington involving Marguerite O. Hanselman of Eagle River, who was cited for driving under the influence.

 

Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 19 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded one 911 hang-up, two burglar alarms, one request for an ambulance, one report of animal noise, three animal problems, one report of disorderly conduct, one harassment complaint, two vacation checks, one suicide attempt, two thefts, one hazard, two traffic violations and one wanted person.

 

Three Lakes Police

This police department re­ported two 911 hang-ups, two accidents, one accident with injuries, two alarms, one report of an animal at large, one request for motorist assistance, 22 business checks, one report of child abuse, three civil matters, one gunshot, three hazards, three informational reports, one report of reckless driving, two suspicious circumstances, five traffic stops, one report of underage drinking and two vandalism complaints.
