|Bag limits might not change prior to Memorial weekend|

It’s not likely walleye bag limits on dozens of North Woods lakes will be increased prior to the Memorial Day weekend May 24-26, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officials said Monday.
Because of a late spring and walleye spawn this year, tribal spearers are still harvesting walleyes from some lakes in the ceded territory in northern Wisconsin, according to DNR fishery experts.
“Tribal members are still spearing, so it’s really too early to tell if we’ll be able to adjust (bag limits) for the weekend,” said Shelly Allness, tribal liaison and Land Division policy advisor for the DNR. “We likely won’t know this for at least a few days. Total numbers are not that high,
