William G. Grems of Land O’ Lakes died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhine­lander. He was 81.

Mr. Grems was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Utica, N.Y., to Bradford and Lela (née French) Grems. He was raised and attended schools in Utica.

He entered the U.S. Navy and served on the mine-sweeper USS Brant during the Korean conflict.

He married Dorothy Pavlack in Chicago in 1952. It was there he enjoyed a career as a salesman in the construction and insurance industries.

The couple moved to Land O’ Lakes in 1976 where Mr. Grems enjoyed being in­volved with the construction of their home. He owned and operated Countless Combinations Small Engine Repair.

He was very active in St. Albert’s Catholic Church for many years, was a member of the Land O’ Lakes Lions Club and involved with organizing and working chamber of commerce events.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Felicia (Charlie) Kania of Conover; two sons, Dave (Ed Margoscin) of Wimberley, Texas, and Larry (Holly) of Watersmeet, Mich.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be  held Thursday, May 29, at 1 p.m. at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Land O’ Lakes, with the Rev. Robert Kos­zarek presiding. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
