Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 454 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least 15 car vs. deer accidents, 14 vehicle accidents, two abandoned vehicles, six requests for agency assistance, seven requests for an ambulance, five animal problems, two batteries, one burglary, nine burglar alarms, 16 requests for citizen assistance, six reports of criminal damage to property, two reports of disorderly conduct, 13 disturbances, one report of domestic violence, three fires, one report of fraud, six harassment complaints, six reports of hazardous conditions, two hit-and-runs, seven juvenile problems, two reports of loitering, two lost persons, five reports of lost property, 14 suspicious circumstances, 13 thefts, one threat, 15 traffic violations, one vacation check, eight welfare checks, and 34 911 hang-ups.

At least 16 calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 25 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least 16 people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including three for disorderly conduct, one for bail jumping, seven for probation violation, one for possession of THC, two for operating while intoxicated, one for battery and one for possession of paraphernalia.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 81 to 93. As of June 2, there were 83 inmates.

 

Sunday, June 1

- 4:45 p.m. - A?one-vehicle accident was reported on Drager Road near Spiegel Drive in the town of Lincoln involving Robert L. Johnson of Eagle River.

Saturday, May 31

- 2:51 a.m. - A?one-vehicle accident was reported on Wild Rice Boat Landing near S. Townline Road in Manitowish Waters involving Elizabeth C. Goldsworthy of Manitowish Waters, who was cited for inattentive driving.

 

Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 39 calls for the Eagle River Police. These included four 911 hang-ups, one car vs. deer accident, one hit-and-run, two accidents with property damage, one request for agency assistance, one burglar alarm, one dog bite, five animal problems, one custodial interference, two death investigations, two disturbances, one drug problem, one case of Internet fraud, one harassment complaint, one juvenile problem, one parking problem, one suicide attempt, three suspicious circumstances, four thefts, one hazard, one traffic violation, one unsecure premise and one utility problem.
