Presentation on eagles slated in Three Lakes PDF Print E-mail

The Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes will host a free public presentation titled “Our Magnificent Eagles” given by Ron Eckstein Monday, June 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Three Lakes Town Office, located at 6965 W. School St.

Eckstein — a retired emeritus wildlife biologist of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) who managed the statewide eagle and osprey conservation and survey programs for more than 20 years — will share his knowledge and experiences of the eagle population.

The presentation will focus on the DNR’s eagle conservation program, the annual breeding and nesting surveys, trends in the health and growth of the eagle population, and will share facts and points of insight into the behavior of these birds.

Eckstein’s talk is based on years of in-field experience including personally banding more than 1,500 eaglets in the nest and erecting more than 70 osprey nest platforms.
