|Youth art classes begin June 19|
Summer youth art classes, designed by intern Olivia Heitz and under the guidance of Wendy Powalisz, LOLA program director, will begin Thursday, June 19, and run through Thursday, Aug. 21. There is no limit on the number of classes children can attend.
Heitz is a junior studying fine arts at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.All classes are offered two times a day, from 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. Guardians are welcome to attend.
The class, “Klimt — Tree of Life,” is set Thursday, June 19, at LOLA Center for the Arts. Students will paint in the style of artist Gustav Klimt on canvas board.
“Skull Necklaces” is slated Thursday, June 19, at the LOLA?Center, and will focus on Dia de Muertos. Participants will make their own sugar skull.
“Leafy Impressions” is planned Tuesday, June 24, at the LOLA?Center. Attendees will study leaves in monoprints.
“Funky Puffy Fish” is set Thursday, June 26, at the LOLA Center. Students will learn colorful drawing techniques and will complete a fish hanging.
Art of Cheese Fundraiser for LOLA is arranged Wednesday, June 18, at Forest Lake Country Store, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at LOLA Center for the Arts and Forest Lake Country Store.
“The Before I Die .?.?. ” mural will hang all summer on the west wall of Brew’s Pub across the street from the LOLA Center. Attendees can write down dreams and read what others are dreaming.
