Colder weather firms up area lakes
By George Langley

The combination of cold and wind kept most anglers off the ice last weekend. That’s OK, however, as it got the ice much thicker and got rid of a lot of that slush that had been hindering anglers.
It is nice to realize that we are now in the second half of February already and getting ever nearer to longer days and warmer weather. Those cold fronts don’t last real long now and normal temperatures in the afternoon will be closer to 30 degrees — perfect for ice fishing!
