Inconsistent weather tough on spring anglers
By George Langley

What a completely off-center spring the North Woods is having. With the early ice-out, the patterns are totally out of whack and unpredictable, especially when it comes to spawning.
We think that all the perch have spawned, but we are still getting anglers in who are catching perch with spawn still in them. We think that all or most of the walleyes have spawned, but are not sure because a few are still being caught by perch and crappie anglers with spawn in them.
With the weather providing a cold front at least once a week, we just can’t seem to pin things down as far as looking ahead to the opener.
